Unique photosynthetic mechanism that "chlorophyll d" absorbs near infrared light suggests a new possibility for renewable energy conversion. We focus on this machinery and will translate into efficient applications.

An elemental instrument for depth-profiling analyses of chemical substances with sub-micrometer resolution. The instrument is based on an interferometer for near-infrared stimulated Raman scattering light.
New electrochemical deposition technique presents several advantages such as (1) the relatively uniform film can be obtained on substrates with melting point lower than 373K, (2) the thickness and morphology of films can be controlled by electrochemical parameters, (3) the equipment is not expensive, and (4) the process is less hazardous and environmentally friendly. Thus, this technique gives the preparation of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell with the low cost and the high quality.
When the Pt nano-particle dispersed on WO3 film prepared by a sol-gel process was exposed to 100% H2 gas, the normalized transmittance decreased rapidly (in less than 0.2 sec) from 100% to almost 50%. The optical absorbance of the film was dependent on the H2 gas concentration in the range from 100ppm to 4% and the relationship between them was linear. The relationship between the electrical conductivity and hydrogen gas concentration in the range from 100 to 10000ppm was also linear.
Effective synthesis of cyclic porphyrin trimers in which multiple transition metal ions can be incorporated has been developed. These cyclic porphyrin trimers are expected for application to photocatalysts.
Photocatalysts have strong oxydative ability and superhydrophilicity that can make many kinds of applications. Especially, we developed many products of photocatalysis in environmental field through collaboration work with companys. Here, we show new applications of photocatalysis.
